Kristin Bauer van Straten as Pam, the vampireFans of HBO’s True Blood will know Kristin Bauer van Straten as the wily vampire, Pamela Swynford De Beaufort, a character who is both hilarious as well as incredibly slick when it comes to style.

Recently, The Daily Beast asked Kristin if she shared any similarities with Pam. While she admitted that they both share the same dry wit when it comes to humor, she also stated that they have their differences. Besides her passion for animal welfare, she is also prone to tearing up! In fact, that soft, vulnerable side to her had her labelled at one point as the ‘sweet blonde girl’ character:

“I had a hard time in my career at that time… I had to segue into dramas and one-hours and [was told] it was almost impossible to see me as a character with any edge… It’s kind of incredible that I ended up with Pam. I was trying to think of an edgier character and I couldn’t… Pam is like a stylish serial killer with integrity.”

However, last season did see Pam show her vulnerable side. Little did we know that her Achilles heel would turn out to be her maker, Eric Northman (played by Alexander Skarsgård). Season 4 has expanded on this theme. Now that Eric has lost him memory, and Pam is trying to hide him from their new King, Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer), it will be interesting to see how far she will go to protect him.

Speaking of Alexander, Kristin was also asked about her relationship with the actor. While onscreen, since they are bonded by blood, she must trust him implicitly; but she has also found that she trusts him as much offscreen:

“In our relationship as Pam and Eric, there are overlaps with Kristin and Alex, because I have complete faith and trust in him. You have to do some things playing an immortal character where you just have to dive in and look ridiculous… Alex is so incredibly sweet and funny.”

In Kristin’s earlier days as an actress, she almost left the profession and went back to her roots. Being raised in Wisconsin, she had an ethic of hard work. After gardening for three months straight, as an alternative to therapy, she decided to stick with what she knew:

“I realized if I didn’t want to lose my house, I’d have to go do the only thing I had ever been paid to do. It was that or being a hooker. Heidi Fleiss was in jail, so I thought I’d go back and audition.”

You could just imagine Pam saying that exact same line!

Kristin also admits to maintaining an Internet presence through Twitter and Facebook. While she likes to keep up to date with her fans, she is careful about how much she reads about herself and  her acting roles on the net. She is happy that fans seem so positive about her as an actor,  but she does not feel the need to see the negative opinions as well.

We here at True Blood Net couldn’t possibly imagine what anyone would have to say about this wonderful woman that is negative! Make sure you check out the full interview here.
