Kelly Clarkson – “Wrapped In Red”

Kelly Clarkson Wrapped In RedOne of the first reviews that I did for the site was Lady Antebellum’s Christmas album, “A Winter’s Night“. It only seemed right that I should review another Christmas album on the year anniversary of this site being open. This past October our first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, released her first Christmas album called, “Wrapped In Red“.

This Christmas album has not one or two original songs like must Christmas albums have. She did better by putting FIVE (yes you read right) original songs on here. I have to say I love all five of these songs and they really do seem to help make the album.

She starts off the album with an original song called “Wrapped In Red“. What I like about the song is that it is a great lead in for the whole album. As this song goes on it builds and builds. Her voice in this song is just pure heaven as well. I say that because you can hear the emotion in everything that she is singing. This song is very well done and they made the right choice in making this the lead in.

The song to follow is called “Underneath The Tree“. This song has a more upbeat sound to it that most holiday songs have. I have to say whenever I hear this song I just want to dance around the house singing along getting ready for the holiday season. This is also the main single off this album. Just this past week just released the music video for it. You can watch the video below.

She then does amazing job on classic holiday songs that we have all grown to love like, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas“, “Run Run Rudolph” and many more. She is able to add her own little twist to the songs without going overboard so people can enjoy them still as classics.

As you keep listening to this album you think the rest of the it is just going to be all of the songs we already know. Well that isn’t the case she was able to put in another original song called “Winter Dreams (Brandon’s Song)” in the middle! Of course this was written about her new husband, but I can’t help but love this song. This song would be perfect for a winter Romance/Comedy movie. Now don’t laugh because she did have a song, “Trouble With Love“, in the movie “Love Actually“. Which every girl watches when the holiday season comes around. These lyrics in this song were done very well and again a great job with the build up.

The next original song I love is called “4 Carats“. I love the weird noise with the guitar in the beginning of this song. Its a toe tapping/sassy song and I love that. I kind of wished she would have chose this song to be the single. I say that because I feel like the there is so much stuff that could have been done for the music video to make it very interesting and fun.

The last original song on this album is “Just For Now“. What I really like is throughout the entire song you will hear a very familiar christmas melody in the background then it will go to original music. Now the lyrics are all original but them doing this in the background is just pure genius.

Now I loved the whole album because every song on this I want to have on my Christmas/Holiday playlist. I recommend if you are getting this to go to Target to get it since they have a Deluxe edition that no one else has. This is going to be getting 5/5 stars. I promise once you get this and listen to it you will be making sure you need to listen to it every year.
