In case you haven’t heard, Katy Perry has announced a new album, due to come out on October 22nd. As she hasn’t put out an album since Teenage Dream in 2010, her fans are thrilled at her return. Many artists have begun announcing album dates in unique ways, and Perry’s unconventional announcement was definitely eye-catching.
Katy Perry’s announcement was not only eye-catching, but also unprecedented, as she announced her new album by semi-trailer. Yup, you read that right. She had the title of her new album, Prism, and its expected release date printed on the side of a shiny, golden semi-trailer, set to cruise through Los Angeles, California and throughout the rest of the United States starting July 29th. According to Perry’s Twitter account, the semi was most recently seen in Niagra Falls on August 9th. Some say this approach to marketing is strange, but many others find it fun and exciting that artists have resorted to unconventional means to get their messages heard. At any rate, if this is a preview of what Perry’s fans can expect from her upcoming album, it’s sure to be exciting.
