Kate and Andrew are huge Auburn football fans.  And I mean HUGE.  But I can see why they would be, because it’s at Auburn where they met and fell in love.  Now they are getting married in a destination wedding at The Cloister in Sea Island, GA., where we also met up with them to shoot their engagement session.  Because our couples share their love story best….

How did you and Andrew meet?

Andrew and I met at Auburn, Spring of our Junior year. I was roommates with his sister, Grayson, at the time. Me, Grayson and a bunch of our friends were all planning to go out that night since it was one of the first nights back from Christmas break. While at the bar, we ran into Andrew and his friends. I had met Andrew just a couple of times before, but we had never really had a chance to talk until now. We ended up talking and hanging out the whole night! We went on a couple of dates and then he asked me to go to his fraternity formal. We had so much fun together and decided to make it official soon after. We have been inseparable since!

How did he propose?

A co-worker of mine was getting married that Sunday down in St. Simon’s Island, so Andrew and I decided to make a long weekend of it and stay in Jekyll Island Saturday night. Our hotel was right on the beach, but you couldn’t see the beach because of the high sand dunes so I was just dying to walk down the boardwalk and check it out! The Auburn/Arkansas game was on though, so Andrew and I agreed to go down to the beach once the game was over before going to dinner. Finally the game was over and Auburn had won, but Andrew didn’t seem his normal Auburn-just-won happy…I couldn’t figure out what it was though (I now know he was probably just a little nervous!). We got ready for dinner and Andrew suggested we go down to the beach as we had previously planned, but it was dark now and I was getting hungry so I told him we could just go in the morning! Usually Andrew would agree (he’s usually hungry too!), but he was being very persistent about checking it out before dinner. I finally agreed and we headed down the boardwalk towards the beach. It was then that I started sensing something! We got down to the beach and we walked down towards the water a little when all of a sudden he looked at me and said he had something he wanted to ask me. He proceeded to get down on one knee and ask me to marry him! Of course I said “yes” and we went to dinner to celebrate!

Kate, what do you love most about Andrew?

There are so many things I love about Andrew, but if I have to choose just one it would be his smile. Not only does he have a wonderful smile, to me his smile represents the happiness and love which exists in our relationship. I know that no matter what happens in our future life together, everything will be alright as long as he keeps smiling.

:)

Andrew, what do you love most about Kate?

One of the many things I love about Kate is her laugh. She really brings joy to the people around her and especially me! Also Kate’s laugh really helps me when I need it the most because it picks me up and reinforces the fact she will always be there for me!

If you have kids in the future, what advice would you give your kids about waiting for the right “one”?

“You’ll know when you’ve found the right one – they will become your best friend and you will share everything with them. You will be able to be your true self around them. You will just know, without a doubt, that they are the one for you.”
