Karl X Johan’s “Never Leave Me” sounds almost as much like a Peter Gabriel cover as the earlier “Do You Remember,” though there’s a definitively Northern European electro-pop twist this time around. Karl X Johan are definitely not afraid to get radio-friendly, but their melodies are noticeably cleaner and their production more austere than the bulk of modern radio pop. “Never Leave Me” truly is a tribute to that bygone (and often reviled) era of mainstream alt-pop: the 1980s. Bryan Ferry might be proud.

The album is slated to be released in April 2014 (I kid you not).
