When you talk to Kacy about her love story, she is one of those that will be quick to tell you that true love is worth the wait, even if it means waiting until your 30s to get married. Having been a bridesmaid in many weddings, including ours, she now finally got her turn to be the bride as she waited all these years for her own special wedding day. She and Ross started as coworkers turned friends many years ago. Though it took a few years of being friends before realizing something more was there between them, once they recognized that love connection, they were engaged about 8 months later, and married 6 months after that. Kacy and Ross share most importantly a love story that starts with both of their first True Loves, building their love on the foundation of God’s love. For their wedding day, they wanted their ceremony to be more about glorifying God than anything else. Their ceremony started with their ring bearers carrying two crosses down the aisle followed by a love letter pre-recorded of Kacy’s voice echoing over the crowd surprising Ross with how he was her greatest answer to prayer.
Their day was filled with other fun surprises such a flash mob half way through the reception starting with the bridesmaids breaking out in dance, and then more of the guests jumping up and joining the pre-planned choreographed dance.
For this wedding, while Stephen also shot as normal, I pulled double duty playing wedding photographer and a bridesmaid. One of the first weddings I ever shot, I did the same, and swore I would never do it again… but then, you just make exceptions for best friends. After all my years of shooting weddings, it was fun to get to jump in a few bridesmaids shots as I celebrated this special day with my friend now living out her happily ever after too!
