Justin Moore brought his Honky Tonkin' ways to Treasure Island Casino just after taking few months off the road while working on his new album. Justin started out the night taking the crowd back to his #1 hit Point at You from his 2013 album Off The Beaten Path. The crowd got up on their feet singing along and dancing as he continued to play past hits, How I Got to Be This Way, Till My Last Day and Beer Time.
Mr. Moore didn't roll out one song to the next, he was always interacting on a personal level with the crowd. He gave a great intro to his song Back Road by mentioning that some of his favorite hobbies, when he's not spending time with his wife of 9 years and three daughters, are hunting and fishing. He also joked that once or twice a year, his wife gives him time to do whatever he enjoys. His favorite way to spend that time is with friends, a case of bear, flying down a back road. I think we've found some of his inspiration for some of his top hits!
From ballads to good ol' crankin country songs, Justin sang it all. Moore introduced the next song of the night as his new single You Look Like I Need a Drink. He took the time to tell the crowd how good it feels to be back on the radio. The crowd couldn't agree more, singing along to the words, just as they had to all his previous hits earlier in the night as the two hits that followed, Lettin' The Night Roll and Bait A Hook.
If you have ever seen Justin Moore perform before, one of the most honorable and heartfelt moments of the night is the time he takes to share with the crowd the process and experience of writing his #1 hit single If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away. Justin wrote this song for his Grandpa, who he lost four years ago to cancer. Typically, he dedicates this song to him when he performs it live. Tonight, he talked about meeting a few fans backstage before the show that have served our country and decided that tonight he would instead dedicate it to all the folks who have never made it back home.
Both of Justin's Grandpa's were retired service men, one in the Navy and one in the Air Force. They instilled in him the importance of sacrifice that so many of our men and woman in uniform make for our freedoms and safety. There is always a time during his show that he takes his hat off and thanks not only those who have served, but also the police officers, firefighters, first responders and teachers working to make this country a great place to live. His true appreciation was felt by everyone in attendance, and it will be a moment none of us will forget.
Justin went on to give the audience a treat singing covers such as Rocky Mountain Way, Desperado and a tribute to Glen Fry with Heartache Tonight. He played another crowd favorite, his 2014 collaboration with Brantley Gilbert and Thomas Rhett Small Town Throw Down as the encore for the evening.
Finishing the night like a true cowboy by tipping his hat once again as a thank you to the audience for making his, and his band member's, dreams come true.
