Junebug's Baby Shower

By Salvagedspaces @salvagedspaces
Junebug's Baby ShowerYesterday was such an eventful day - the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo, Brooksville's first Blueberry Festival, and my baby shower! I probably should have picked a better date, but my amazing friends still showed up and we had a great time!
My mom hosted it, with a lot of help from Pete. Even though this isn't a baby blog, we'd still like to share our experience and some of our favorite things about the shower. We had so much fun decorating for it and you might find some ideas if you're planning one of your own.
But before I begin, I would like to give a big thanks to my mom and Pete for hosting it! The picture below shows you just how awesome my husband is. He was constantly cleaning up after us reckless ladies, baking, taking photos, and bringing me a new glass of ice water every time my cheeks were turning pink. I love him!

Baby Shower Highlights
Since we live in Florida and it's been about 90 degrees lately, I thought it was only appropriate to have an ice cream bar! It was a huge success (...or at least I visited it more than once). The ice cream sign has been in Pete's parents' carport since the beginning of time. Everybody always said that someday they would find a use for it. Finally we did!

Pete found these small dishes and floral spoons at the thrift store and we used them to serve small snacks and condiments on:

We also served cupcakes that had mini pacifiers on top. The pacifiers were made from Lifesaver mints and pink jelly beans. We held them together with buttercream icing.
My mom planned a lot of activities for the shower, and one of my favorites was our "painting station." We had plain white onesies ranging from newborn-12 months, fabric paint, and stencils.

The painting was the quickest activity - either because my friends are so talented, or because it was just way too hot outside. So we shuffled inside to drink sherbet punch and open gifts!

Lucy June is already so friggin' spoiled by so many people who love her!
Some of the gifts require assembly and we're tickled pink about these upcoming projects. You wouldn't think putting together a swing and carseat would be so exciting, but we love any DIY challenge and we'll be building them as soon as I get done writing this.
I also love that some of the gifts were handcrafted. My friend Erika painted an adorable picture frame with "Junebugs" and Lucy's name on it (pictured above).
My friend Meli, who taught me to sew, made Kimono baby booties and a top for Lucy! If you can sew, then I recommend picking up her patterns on her Etsy shop! Look how cute everything is!

Another handmade gift was from my cousin Eva. She made me this three-tier diaper cake that is full of diapers, rattles, teething rings, hair ribbons, a bib, a bottle, and a small teddy bear. Pretty awesome, right?!

A big thank you to everyone who made this possible! Lucy will be here any day now to enjoy everything.
Countdown: less than six weeks!
