Story: Joy Ride starts when Lolo’s (Cola) family arrives in a white American neighbourhood and meets an adopted girl Audrey (Park). The two become best friends as they break down any boundaries placed in front of them. However, Audrey finds herself getting a new opportunity which becomes a lot more challenging.

The pair head to China for Audrey’s work and are joined by Deadeye (Wu) and Kat (Hsu). It offers the pair a chance to finish an adventure and find Audrey’s birth parents.  However, along the way, the friends get to have a big adventure to discover more about themselves.

Verdict on Joy Ride

Joy Ride is a comedy following four Asian Americans who travel to China and learn more about their culture. However, along the way, they get to have their own adventures and learn more about themselves. Even if it tests them to break out of their normal comfortable box.

This is an enjoyable comedy following the four friends traveling to China for a business trip. It has a big message and gets to see them learn more about themselves. Even if some of the comedy is too wacky and the drug journey seems unrealistic. Elsewhere, we get a great cast, which brings the laughs, with a different sense to suit the characters. Deadeye steals the show as the best character with Sabrina Wu shining.
