jc 012 John Crane Oldfield Farm Review

We were very kindly send a John Crane Oldfield Farm to review by the Wooden Toyshop and what more can I say? A picture speaks a thousand words and if Kody’s smile is anything to go by I think he gives it a big thumbs up, don’t you?

Kody could not wait to get those boxes open and set to work building up his farm, with a little help from his dad he was soon helping the ducks swim around the pond and placing the pigs in the sty.

Its quite amazing to observe a child in the depth of imaginative play and this farm yard set defiantly enables a child to stretch their imagination to its full potential.

During playing with the farm yard together we have discussed what to feed the animals and where they will sleep, Kody knows that if it rains then the animals need to go inside so they don’t get cold and wet. I am dreading passing a field of sheep and cows now as I know he will want to bring them home, to add to his own farm when he sees them outside in the rain.

Its really made me think. Kody has never actually been to a real life farm, yet I know he would love too, so I am going to take a look at local attractions and see what we can arrange.

Kody was not too happy that he had no farmer, so I guess I am off to look at the added accessory sets. He is making do with a Bob The Builder figure at the moment.

He wanted to provide a bowl of water for the cows, so I compromised and rather than allowing him to use his real bowl and water as he insisted we placed the cows near to the pond. I think I have convinced him for now.

Olfield Farm – John Crane

PicMonkey Collage6 John Crane Oldfield Farm Review

Oldfield Farm is a magnificent toy farm which will provide hours of fun for children who will also begin to learn about the environment, how farms work and looking after animals. This fantastic wooden farm has a barn with loft and exterior loft ladder, a farmhouse, an animal shed, a pig sty and fences to be arranged as appropriate. The farm has a wooden base to help keep all the pieces together and the roof panels are attached with magnets which allow children to remove the roofs for additional play possibilities.

Farm animals and a farm family are available separately – this is the only fault. I want the farmer and a little family too as we have an empty farm house, its missing some people.

Magnetic Roofs To Make It Easier For Little Hands;

The quality of the toy is superb, I know this will be able to take the wear and tear and strain of the young children. I love the magnetic roof idea as it means their little fingers can take off the roof and put it back together easily with no hinges to trap fingers.

Wooden Toy Shop - WoodenToyShop.co.uk was born out of a passion for classic wooden toys that we remembered using when we were children. We strongly believe that in this electronic age there is still a place for timeless toys that reward imaginative children with hours of wonderful play.

And I could not agree more. I would much rather my children sat and played with age related wooden educational toys than be sat on a DS or the Xbox. Children grow up far too quickly, I want them to look back on their childhood and be able to capture every possible happy memory.

I remember my brother owning a wooden farm yard and a large wooden castle, I always wanted one. I know I used to hide his farm animals when he was not looking, as he never allowed me to play with it. Twenty plus years have passed and I still remember putting one of his cows in the hamster cage, the hamster chewed it to pieces and he cried for houses. I blamed him and said he did it.
