‘Matchstick Girl’ by the Australian born Joel Sarakula is like a slow release drip-feed of wistful joie de vivre. Or painful remorse, it’s too bittersweet to have to choose.

The single comes from his latest album, The Golden Age, which was launched only a few weeks ago at the Servant Jazz Quarters in Dalston, London (Joel’s current city of residence).
The video features footage of 80s Lithuania and makes me wonder what it must have been like (the launch party and in Lithuania in the 80s). Listen to more of the album below the video…
