There are so many people working hard not because they just want to work but because they want to prove and achieve something. I remember a man who worked as a janitor for more than 20 years in the same company whose salary is not that rewarding. He works so diligently with passion that the office would be dirty if he is absent. He cleans so well. In one encounter where we had lunch together in a “carenderia” I remember him telling me that he cleaned the entire office as if it was his own house. He feels so happy knowing he had done his best.
Looking at our respective work, have we done our best? Do we treat our job as a mere work? Or as a vocation? Do we put our heart in it?
While many would like to make their job a satisfying one, there are just so many who can’t. We can’t blame these people as they have their own motivational factors. They have their own drive that would propel them to work hard and do their best.
After all, what is really more important is that you love what you are doing. That’s what matters most.
