Did anyone else gasp when they saw the cover of the current issue of The Magnolia Journal? My spirit animal Joanna looks simply stunning in her long maxi skirt and sweater. The first thing I did was to see if I could find who made that outfit. But I wasn't able to find any credit for it. So I did the next best thing. I created my own Joanna Gaines Inspired Holiday Outfit.
I would wear a fluffy skirt anytime! My wedding dress was layers of tulle at the bottom and made me feel like a princess. When I tried this skirt on, my little guy kept pointing and saying princess, princess. I might be wearing this skirt all the time just to get recognized properly lol!
I may have twirled around the room once or twice! Seriously, the layers on this maxi skirt are simply stunning. Oh and here's the best part about this skirt. It's under $40 and comes in 29 colors!!! 29! I'm wearing an XL here. I ordered an XL because I wanted it to be long. According to the reviews the elastic waist is the same for every size. It's the length that increases by size.
Here's the key to wearing something with lots of volume on the bottom. Pair it with something slim on top. I found this light gray turtleneck sweater and it worked perfectly. The skirt came with a long sash that can be tied in a bow which I'm not wearing here. But I could have tucked the sweater in without adding bulk if I had opted for the sash or a belted waist.
I also added my favorite pair of leopard heels. Leopard print is a wardrobe basic in my closet. It goes with everything!
A long plaid scarf in the same tones, adds texture and warmth. And I seriously needed the warmth. I wasn't so much as holding the scarf in my hands as trying to keep my hands warm in these pics! It was so cold and windy out.
