In a press statement, the company said the train was scheduled to leave at 9:44:40 local time, but it was set to move at 9:44:20. Moreover, the officials explained why this happened: the staff did not check the schedule. “The crew did not check the departure time sufficiently,” the statement said, pointing out that none of the passengers had filed a complaint. The Tsukuba Express line carries passengers from Akihabara, east Tokyo, to Tsukuba in about 45 minutes. Between the two destinations is a distance of 58 kilometers.
