Jake Bugg launched into fame after appearing on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury in 2011. He then got a contract with Mercury, has appeared on Live at Maida Vale on Radio 6 Music, and has even graced the sets of Jools’ Annual Hootenanny and The Jonathan Ross Show.
Having been nominated for a Brit Award in the British Breakthrough Act category, it’s no surprise that he’s now been announced to play at Beach Break Live, which this year is relocating to Newquay as part of an attempt to make the festival even bigger and more holiday-orientated.
With fame comes great responsibility (well, at least in terms of fashion) and it seems that Mr Bugg is now making a name for himself when it comes to style, as well as standing out on stage. In February he performed at Live at 121 at the flagship Burberry store on London’s Regents Street, where he made what was already a party for the young and the trendy just that little bit cooler.
The key to his look is that it appears very laid-back while at the same time being slick. For example, he effortlessly teams a Harrington or bomber jacket with a crisped-collar shirt (often a checked one, though at Live at 121 he went for all black). What’s great about this look is that it’s on-trend but still comfortable and understated, so you don’t have to feel self-conscious about showing-off in the latest fad.
Jake finishes off his dressed down look with classic desert boots, or high-tops. Another music lover who is a fan of the desert boot is none other than Rihanna, who has also confessed to a love of Clarks shoes in the past.
If Jake Bugg is the new male style icon things are certainly looking up. Look behind the floppy hair and apparent ease with which he dresses (he claims not to think about what he puts on) and there’s a whole lot of elegance going on.
