Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop is a place I've been dreaming of for months and months; well, I've been dreaming of a great ramen place for a long time and when presented with the opportunity of lunching in New York on a trip peddling publications I came across an article in the NYT March 5th, all about ramen and Ivan was #1 in Manhattan. It's in the Gotham West Market on 11th Ave between 44th and 45th Sts, a wild place housing numerous eateries and sporting quotes from folks like Simone de Beauvoir. I ordered the spicy red chili ramen and washed it down with some rioja from the nearby Tapas Bar. Most excellent.
On the way out I sampled the toilettes which were marked EXIT, another great quirk.
My bill: about $15 and change for the ramen and $7 and change for the wine.
Go? Oh I wish we had something cool like this in Paris.
