The colors of your life
Betty Bender gives us today’s quote,
“It’s a mistake to surround yourself only with people just like you. Throw off that worn comforter – and replace it with a crazy quilt of different and imaginative people. Then watch the ideas erupt!”
Think about the beauty of this advice – a crazy quilt – the image of it pleases me.
Quilting has not been something I’ve ever done though I’ve read how women would come together to quilt and talk and laugh and cry. Sounds fun, sounds special, and it sounds like it could be profound.
I think we do this in the 5:15 accountability calls, though we don’t physically sew the pieces, we are bringing them to the party.
Where do you get the pieces for a quilt?
The crazy and gorgeous quilt of your life is where. You get the pieces from all the experiences, the places, the people. You pull from everything. Or you don’t.
It seems to me that if we want to make our life brilliant, to have something to comfort us, warm us and keep us surrounded well, we must stitch everything together: the colors, the smells, the amazing and the ordinary to make something brilliant, shining and upon closer look, awe-inspiring.
