Interview with Jason Davis

Posted on the 19 June 2015 by Catchmyear @catchmyear

This site was designed to not talk about just the artist that we see but the behind the scene people.  I was able to talk to Jason Davis who has been in the music business for years.  With that has come a bunch of knowledge and experience on how the business works.  That is why I am so happy to be able to bring you this interview.

Before we get to the questions I want to say thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to answer these questions.  I’m sure our readers will enjoy hearing these answers and I’m very honored to be able to ask these questions to someone who is very well known in the music industry. Jason Davis You’ve have been in the music industry for years.  What made you decide that this was the path that you wanted to go in?
First of all thank you for the warm welcome, and I am honored that you guys wanted to speak with me as well. This was never a path that I chose, it was really God putting me on a journey which led to the Music Industry opening. Basically I started writing songs when I was 13 years old and after falling in love with song writing I wrote about 350 songs over the next 10 years. After 10 years of writing, I wrote a song that the industry heard which led the industry to pursue me.
You’ve seen all of the changes happening in the music industry from the inside.  What is the biggest change you have seen?  And do you think this change was a good or bad thing?
The biggest change I’ve seen is that the barriers to distribution are down, which means that an artist can make music and get it out to a worldwide audience through the internet. Since I have an entrepreneur mind set, I think its truly incredible that an artist has the opportunity to create and distribute music to the masses.
Being a person who represents an artist I’m sure there are a few things you always look for when there is a new artist out there.  What is that thing that makes you say to a new artist you have what it takes to make it in this business?
I think it’s a combination of God given talent, a God given passion, and someone who understands that it takes perseverance.
You just released a memoir a few years ago called “Your Love Pursues.”  What made you want to write this?
Again, this is something that God led me to. Over the course of 5 years I had many people that I didn’t know very well tell me my life story was inspiring and that I should write a book, eventually the pieces fell into place.
What was the hardest part in writing this book?
Anyone who has ever published a book knows that the editing process is fairly grueling, because you have to make sure the many words and punctuation are correct.
Jason Davis 2Besides writing a book you are also running a company that seems to grow bigger and bigger by the day.  What was the hardest part with starting this company?
16 years ago the hardest part was really what any artist faces in the business. Its two things, a lack of knowledge and a lack of knowing the right people. Gaining the knowledge and finding the right people is a very challenging road for anyone.
What advice would you give our readers who are thinking of starting to join the music business career.  Wether it would be behind the scenes or in front of everyone.

I think in any business the key with growing and maintaining success is you have to be incredibly passionate about what you’re doing and you have to persevere.
