Interview with Cyrielle Mohara from Spectrum Agency Tell us a little about how you started your company I started the company by doing brands events and quickly some of the managers for these brands asked us to also plan their weddings as they loved the designs of the events we created. We started to have more and more demands for weddings as it was mostly word of mouth. We then developed more into Destination weddings as the demand from Chinese market was growing and my expertise from travels and hospitality allowed our company to propose unique venues and wedding experiences. What ingredients make for a perfect event? For me a perfect wedding is not only beautiful but also fun. When you have all guests and the couple relaxed, enjoying and having fun this is perfect. These are memories they will cherish for life. For destination weddings we also emphasize on the experience the couple and their guests will have. This starts from the hotel to the extra activities they plan and the overall atmosphere on the wedding day.

What ingredients make for a perfect event? For me a perfect wedding is not only beautiful but also fun. When you have all guests and the couple relaxed, enjoying and having fun this is perfect. These are memories they will cherish for life. For destination weddings we also emphasise on the experience the couple and their guests will have. This starts from the hotel to the extra activities they plan and the overall atmosphere on the wedding day. What's your favorite part of being a wedding planner? I love the wedding day itself when I see the look on the couple's face when they discover the beautiful decoration, the exquisite florals, the romantic lighting. When the bride walks down the aisle this is the magical moment everyone was waiting for and when we know we did a good job! What do brides need to keep in mind for their wedding day? I know that all brides want to have a perfect wedding, but I always advise my brides to relax and enjoy their wedding process and the big day because it passes in the blink of an eye. Let your team handle all small details and trust them to fix any last-minute issues. You get married only once and it is a day to be shared with loved ones, not sweating about the small things (which will eventually be solved by the planners).

Tell us about a wedding trend you are excited about this season? This year we have seen lots of Neon signs and bold colors and we love it! It's great for outdoor weddings and it brings a really fun atmosphere. Neon signs can be really modern and meaningful. The couple often take their signs home to have as decoration. What do you consider your greatest career success to date? Building a company in China and having a team to manage is for me my biggest success. It is not easy every day to manage a team with a different culture and background, but it pushed me to adapt very fast and be open minded. It came to be very helpful as we plan weddings all over the world and therefore work with vendors from different countries and cultures. I always try to understand the other person point of view and not only being fixed in my mindset.

What's is the motto you live by professionally? Learn from mistakes. As an entrepreneur you will do lots of mistakes, which is the best way to grow and also learn from other people's mistakes who were in the same situation as you. I have done lots of mistakes either in business decisions or even as wedding planner but the most important is to learn from it and next time you will know how to handle properly the same situations. What do you still want to achieve professionally? We can always do better and improve ourselves personally and professionally, so I think I still have a lot to achieve. My team and I love planning weddings in new destinations around the world. It's always challenging to plan in a destination you haven't been to and where it's the first time to plan a wedding, but it is also very rewarding.

Any exciting new projects you are planning this year? We have lots of exciting projects such as weddings in Hawaii and Lake Como. It's the first time we will plan destination weddings at these locations and both venues are magical and have a very different feel and style. These allows us to create truly special weddings by incorporating some authentic elements from design to entertainment.
