Meet Melinda of Paint Job Nail Lacquer!
When did your love for polish begin? My love for polishes began as a little girl. I remember that my mom had the most beautiful long nails. She had a rack of about 10-15 polishes, which at the time, I thought was a jackpot! I remember climbing to reach them and polishing my nails on weekends. I went to private school my whole life and I wasn't allowed to wear nail polish on weekdays to school. Terrible childhood! Lol. When I got to high school, like most girly girls I started the acrylic nails. Oh boy! I would get bright polish and crazy designs. I did that for about 15 years. When I hit my thirties, yes thirties, :-( I decided that I was spending too much on my nails and I needed a change. I removed them and started to "Lub my nubs". I convinced myself that short nails were in and I started to buy nail polish, then more nail polish and then began to make nail polish! That rack that my mom had was nothing compared to the collection I have now.
What made you decide to start your own polish line? I started my line in May of 2013. At that point I was completely obsessed with nail polish. My husband and I started a home based business called Car Couture, LLC. My husband is equally obsessed with cars and customizing cars. The plan was to start with vinyl stickers and move onto customizing. Well I liked the idea but I really needed something for me. So one day while I was doing paperwork for my day job as a Mental Health Therapist, I started to research some indie polish lines, blogs and suppliers. I called my husband and he thought it was a great idea. Honestly, I thought he would completely shut me down on it, but he was so supportive and was impressed with the research I had already done. So we created the line with the ladies of "car guys" in mind. I thought of all the car shows I had been to and although I love all the pretty cars, I would have loved to stop and take a peek at some awesome polishes. So now it's available! Yay. :-) What's the inspiration behind the colors you create?All of the colors have car themed names. I try to name them so they make sense with the color. I also keep myself abreast of fashion trends and put my own twist on what is seen on the runways. Purple is my favorite color so I have a few purple polishes. I literally have to talk myself out of making a new purple every time I mix. How many polishes do you have in your stash?Wow! This was difficult, I attempted to count and I got to about 175. I'm a polish hoarder! I'm sure there are ladies out there with a lot more but my mouth dropped when I realized how many I REALLY had..... I'm so ashamed! Hehe, not really. Other than your own, what's your favorite polish brand?Out of commercial brands, I love China Glaze. Out of my fellow indie mixologists, I love Pure Nail Polish. Danielle is so sweet and the customer service is impeccable. I was her first Florida customer! Yay me.
