Indie Sunday - Cirque

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!
This week, meet Annie from Cirque!
Indie Sunday - Cirque
When did your love for polish begin?I became a full-fledged beauty junkie around 2003 when I discovered the beauty website - MakeupAlley.  Back then I had only a handful of polishes in varying shades of pinks, golds and sheers and my makeup stash was pathetic.  MakeupAlley was (and still is) a great resource for product reviews and their forums showcased a lot of people posting their NOTD/FOTD (Nails of the Day/Face of the Day).  Those photos are what pretty much got me addicted all things color.
What made you decide to start your own polish line? The polish idea came naturally because I was already mixing existing colors to come up with something that was missing in my stash.  I was particularly into making holographics and "jellies".  At the time, I was obsessed with "OPI My Private Jet" but couldn't fork over the money to buy the (now discontinued) black holographic version of it on eBay.  I read online that I could make one by adding some drops of plain black polish into a light colored holographic polish.  And that's how I would essentially make my own colors at home.  The spark that drove me into making a business out of it was the pioneer herself, Lynnderella.  I have some her original polishes that I still love.
What's the inspiration behind the colors you create?I'm inspired by pretty much everything around me - my experiences and memories, travels, current events, things that I fancy.  The latest collection - Alchemy - was inspired by an interest in the mysterious and the magical.  I did a lot of research on it and found out that even though Alchemists could never figure out how to change base metals into gold, the methods that they used in their experiments contributed to the foundation of modern chemistry.  I really enjoyed coming up with the colorways to go with the theme of the release.  Sometimes the names of the colors are obvious; sometimes its really random and isn't so obvious.  I have a lot of ideas and I can't wait to get started on the new colors already.
How many polishes do you have in your stash?I lost count but I think I have around 300 polishes and it fits nicely in 1.5 Helmers along with my other nail related supplies.
