In Which I Tell You Where to Get Some Moonshine...but It's Not What Youthink

By Jenny Mac Rogers @jennymac1207

So a couple of weeks ago, a package arrived in the mail from Bourbon and Boots

Pretty cool, huh? I texted hubs this picture when it arrived. "Is that really cologne?" he replied. I couldn't tell if he was pleased or disappointed initially, but I figured he had to know I wouldn't be ordering "moonshine" via mail order. For a variety of reasons. Just not something I would do.
When I opened the package, I was both excited and apprehensive. See, we are pretty much single fragrance people. I have been wearing the same perfume since, well, I don't know when. Before we married, I'm sure, and that was nearly 12 years ago.
Hubs wore one cologne for forever too. Then a few years ago, he decided to try something else, one of those new Polo varieties. It smelled great out of the bottle, but it never quite sat right with me when he wore it.
And we all know that a man's significant other's opinion about his cologne is more important than his own. Duh.
So, having not yet settled on a new scent, enter this.
That's right. Moonshine Cologne.
The packaging is gorgeous. Right up my alley. But I'll be honest. It made me think the fragrance itself was going to be kitschy, and concerned that it would lack the classic element needed. (He is, after all, a classic, rather than trendy, kind of guy.) "Here goes nothing," I thought.
I have to tell you, I was pleasantly surprised when I first sprayed it in the air. It's woodsy, but only slightly. Not like pine sap like some "woodsy" scents I've smelled.
Then came the real test. He would have to wear the stuff. For a while. Really let it sink in. Try it for a few days. Maybe even a week.
The verdict? Totally unexpected.
Note: I try to keep this blog family friendly. My daughter reads it sometimes, for goodness sake. So I will choose my words carefully here, but I think you will get my drift.
Um, we will be buying more of this. Because I seem to like my husband more when he wears it. Like a lot more.
Got it? Good. Because that's about as spicy as I'm going to get on here.
I invite you to hop on over to Bourbon & Boots and explore. Even better, if you find something you like, here's a code for 5% off any item!
