In the End was the first song I ever heard from these guys. A friend at the time was a fan and insisted that I check their stuff out. I remember playing this song on piano and I even had a crush on one of the members…can you guess which one? One thing I love about this song is the chorus, I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end, it doesn’t even matter. I had to fall to lose it all, but in the end, it doesn’t even matter. Doesn’t that seem so true to life? I think so.
This track was released in October of 2001 from the band’s debut album, Hybrid Theory. It went to #2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Blender Magazine voted it #121 in a list of the 500 greatest songs since you were born. The official video, shown above, also won “Best Rock Video” at the 2002 MTV Awards.
