If You’re Going To Release A Movie About Hot Tub Time Machines, Maybe Oscar Weekend Is Not The Time To Do It

By Nottheworstnews @NotTheWorstNews

According to Box Office Mojo, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 bombed at the box office this Oscar weekend, taking in an estimated $5.2 million dollars in North America.

3 Frequently Asked Questions For This Story

1. “Does this mean audiences were more discerning, as they watched some of the 8 films nominated for Best Picture?”

Given that 50 Shades of Grey topped the box office in its second week, pulling in $23.2 million, after reviews of the movie and word of mouth spread, we’re assuming that audiences became less discerning.

2. “Shouldn’t the producers of Hot Tub Time Machine 2 have used a hot tub time machine to predict this was a poor weekend to release their movie?”

We assume they saved money by not doing this, figuring a movie based on Twilight fan fiction would not outpeform a move kind of based on the sequel of an actual original idea.

3. “I haven’t seen any of this year’s Best Picture nominees. Will Dakota Johnson be on the red carpet, and what will she be wearing?”

Just give all the Oscars to the Walking Dead’s zombies, since we assume that’s what most viewers will be watching tonight instead. Which is fitting given its being shown on a channel that used to be about “American Movie Classics.”
