THE SHOWS Masters of Sex Sunday's episode of MOS was riveting. Truly riveting and yet, I'm sure I didn't even get it all. I tend to take a lot of what I see when I watch a show at face value most of the time. I don't give myself time to sit with the episode. Let it soak in. Usually it's because I want to get my immediate reaction and thoughts onto the screen. (In the olden days I'd say "down on paper") A show like Sunday's episode deserves some marination, some thought, some time, and honestly, a re-watching. The entire show was all Bill and Virginia. Together in their hotel room for one night "working." It was Emmy award winning acting and Emmy award winning writing. We learned a lot more about Bill and his abusive father who abandoned him at the age of 14. We learned a lot about Virginia too. She was also left by someone she loved. While Bill and Virginia were "working," a hermaphrodite baby Bill delivered was being operated on and a championship fight was taking place between Archie Moore and Yvon Durelle. I'm not great with metaphors but I know one when I see one and this entire episode was all about the definition of a "real man." I'm sure if I watch again, I'll be able to explain this all better, but I'd much rather have you watch it and let me know if you saw what I did. All I know is that this episode is still with me and I don't think I'll forget it anytime soon.
Running Wild with Bear Grylls (and Zac Efron) My love for Zac Efron has multiplied exponentially after seeing him on Running Wild with that lunatic Bear Grylls. Bear took my 2nd husband-to-be on a 48 hour insane challenge in the Catskill mountains. Zac and Bear jumped out of a plane, hiked 14 miles, repelled down a cliff, got a dead carcass out of a waterfall, cut it open to see if it could be eaten (it couldn't) took eggs from a birds nest, dug up worms and made a worm omelet out of them. They made fire with a battery and a gum wrapper, (so need to try that one!) shimmied across a rope between two cliffs and then repelled again down a crazy waterfall before their "extraction." During a few brief moments of rest there was some chit chat about Zac's stint in rehab and of course the producers are no fools…lots of shirtlessness. My guy is extremely hot and extremely cool. Crazy sh*t. Can't wait to see Channing Tatum head into insanity with Bear. I'm SO in.
Young Hollywood Awards
- I knew I was in trouble with this one right from the beginning when I barely knew who anyone was during the opening montage
- Kelly Osbourne, our host did an Orange is the New Black skit with Mendez aka Pornstache
- Don't think the lavender hair worked with the red suit, but since Kelly's on Fashion Police, I'm assuming she knows fashion better than I do.
- Fan Favorite Actor Award-Ansel Elgort from The Fault in Our Stars. Shocked that I did see that movie and I can vouch for him being awesome in it. Ansel needs a stylist big time.
- Nick Jonas's arms no longer fit in his suit. I'm guessing he's on a bicep curl kick.
- Breakthrough Actress Award- Danielle Brooks from Orange is the New Black. I love that every one's now reading their thank yous on their cellphones
- Nolan Gould aka the worst actor on Modern Family did the worst skit on the Young Hollywood Awards
- James Maslow from Big Time Rush and some girl from The 100 presented and she filmed his speech on her cellphone also a new trend I'm seeing
- #Socialmediasuperstar Award-Ashley Tisdale. What was her characters name in High School Musical for some bonus points?
- Trendsetter Award-Vanessa Hudgens who was definitely on something. Now I know why she and Zac broke up. I don't think Vanessa's eaten solid food in months. She looked like she wreaked of cigarettes
- No idea who Nathan Kress from iCarly was, I had to look him up.
- Latino Rising Star Award-Gina Rodriguez who will be starring in Jane the Virgin on the CW
- Didn't know that Trey Songz song "Na Na"
- Kellan Lutz looked high to me
- Fan Favorite Actor Award-Chloe Grace Moretz. I know her from 30 Rock, Kick Ass and Carrie
- The Voice Mail skit was lame
- Best Athlete Award-Louis Vito the Snowboarder
- Cheryl Burke's outfit was HIDEOUS
- Reality Royalty Award- The Bachelor and The Bachelorette
- Viral Superstar Award- I've never seen or heard of any of the nominees or the winner, Jenna Marbles. She did have lavender hair and wore quite an outfit. I'd recommend a thong next time Jenna.
- Scott Wolfe looked HOT. Bailey Salinger…sigh
- Bingeworthy TV Show Award: Orange is the New Black, Yeahhhh
- Best Threesome Award-Ian Somerhalder of course. He was there to accept the honor and the crowd went wild
- Red Jambox…thanks CW for the inadvertent product integration
- Hated Ashley's dress and she had some major flyways.
- Your So Fancy Award-Bella Thorne (no idea who she was, had to look her up too. She's in Shake it Up)
- Justin Bieber gave Bella that "should I do her" stare
- Derek Hough led a cool dance number but I fast forwarded it which made it look cooler
- Audrina Patridge from The Hills annoys me
- Super SuperHero Award-Kellan Lutz for Hercules. He was definitely high
- Breakthrough Actor Award -Dylan O'Brian for Teen Wolf
- Cody Simpson's not as cute as he used to be
- Grace, the Make a Wish kid, wanted to be the star of the show and Justin Bieber made that happen for her. Not sure if I felt the authenticity, but I'm pretty down on Bieber these days.
- Justin was pretty mellow and it turns out that he holds the record for the most Make a Wish, wishes granted. Over 200! I'm still down on him but that is impressive.
- Cobie Calliet performed. I skipped it.
- Adam Smith was about to strip down but Kelly stopped him. Damn her. Adam wll be starring in the next cycle of America's Next Top Model. Makes sense.
- Hottest Body (of Work) Award - it should be Zac Efron but Derek Hough won it. You were robbed Zac!
- We Love To Hate You Award-Pablo Schreiber from Orange is the New Black. I get the feeling he's a wacko in real life.
- Favorite Flick-The Fault in Our Stars
- Role Credits.
-Lea Michele on Sons of Anarchy? REALLY? Not happy, but maybe it's her agents idea to break that Rachel stereotype as quickly as possible. I don't want her to ruin the final season. I have to just hope that Kurt Sutter knows what he's doing. He's never been wrong yet, so I'll have faith.
-Well, if Jay Leno was going to do something on NBC, I guess a mentor on Last Comic Standing is a good gig. Makes sense. Jay is an expert at being a stand up. He'll be on the show tonight for anyone that cares. (I for one do not)
Tuesday's Trivia Question: I don't watch this show, and had to use some help from IMDB but a theme week is a theme week. Matthew Casey, Kelly Severide, Gabriela Dawson, Leslie Shay, Peter Mills Otis and Chief Wallace Boden are all characters in THIS show. WWTM-Kristy Like me on Facebook at Watching Way Too Much
