Idris Elba to Play Gunslinger in Dark Tower?
Right now, Deadline is reporting that there are talks underway to make Idris Elba our Roland Deschain in the movie adaptation of the stellar Dark Tower series from Stephen King. If this turns out to be true, then he would be rumored to play against Matthew McConaughey, who is rumored to be playing the Man in Black.
No, not THAT Man in Black.
We don’t know how he will look in the movie, but I’m willing to bet he dresses in a lot of black?
I’m a huge fan of this book series and I would be pretty excited to see these two in the roles, going to-to-toe.
On a side note: I’m a book nerd and I’ve got to say Stephen King’s first line of the whole series is one of the best in all of literature. No, I’m not joking: “The man in Black fled across the Desert, and the Gunslinger followed.” Seeing that line again just gave me some chills. Maybe it’s time for a re-read.
And now, I can’t stop seeing Idris Elba, eyes squinting into the sun, trekking into the desert, on his way to, well, read the books you goons!
