In June 1963, one John F. Kennedy stood in front of a whole bunch of people (450,000 to be exact) and uttered 4 famous words in German. “Ich Bin Ein Berliner!” he proclaimed.

Why? Well we’re not going to bore you with the politics of it all (and we can’t really comment on the fashion but it does appear black, navy and khakhi suits were de rigeur), however, we can vouch for the fact that the phrase was uttered as an affirmation of pride.
