I've got a taste for some culinary lit - How about Good Enough to Eat by Stacey Ballis?
Melanie Hoffman was on top of the world. After a lifelong struggle with her ever-ballooning weight, and a decade spent loathing her job as an attorney, with the support of her loving husband Andrew she finally decided to take control of her life. Two years later, Melanie has lost half her body weight, gotten a culinary degree, and opened a new healthy gourmet take out café on the North Side of Chicago. She has a great staff that she loves, a beautiful home, and a business that seems on track to become a success. With her fortieth birthday on the horizon, she feels as if all of her dreams have become reality.
And then Andrew announces he is leaving her. For a woman twice her size.
Just when she thinks it can’t get worse, a financial bombshell threatens to pull the rug completely out from under her. Enter Nadia, a quirky twenty-something with calico pink hair and dreadful taste in men who is suffering from a temporary state of homelessness. Under normal circumstances, these two women might never have met, but in their current unmoored states, they become roommates, and eventually, friends. And right on Nadia’s heels, Nathan, a documentary film director whose romantic attentions are both exhilarating and terrifying for Melanie. In her new reality, Melanie must face her relationship demons and learn how to live and love in her new body, and how to be good to her friends, her employees, and most importantly, to herself, and to remember that life can indeed be delicious.
