I'm not a super fan of country music, but I've come around to it over the years.
Everyone seems to listen to it, and despite a six year break country music free when we were in the UK, I actually met my husband at a country music festival. It's true! He was there for the music, I was just working selling ice cream. You can certainly find love in unusual places!
Anyway, when I was offered to review country band Rascal Flatts new album Changed, I thought, "Sure, for old times sake". It put it on while I worked away on the computer and my husband sort of smiled without saying a word.
To be quite honest, the album isn't bad, it is extremely mellow and really tugs at your heart strings. But it's maybe too mellow for my taste. I was waiting for that big hit, that song to get my fingers typing even faster, but it never came. In fact, I couldn't guess which one the radio single is.
I like my country music fast and upbeat! However the Rascal Flatts boys are veterans in the country scene and this being their 8th album and all, they must be doing something right.
The trio is comprised of singer Gary LeVox, bassist Jay DeMarcus and guitarist Joe Don Rooney and this album is the first in two years. Since 2000, they have sold over 21 million albums, 25 million digital downloads and had 13 number 1 singles. So yeah, you can say they know a thing or two.
Check out their US tour schedule here, and when I'm in a mellow mood, I will definitely turn them on.
