I love this quote… Obviously it can apply to so many things… Life. Love. Work. Tennis. You know I will always find a way to make anything about tennis, but in this case it really does apply :-)

When I started playing tennis, I never thought I would eventually be a 4.5 level player, and honestly, at first it didn’t matter to me. I just liked to play. I played every weekend, but because I didn’t take lessons or drills, or any kind of instruction, I lost more waaaaaayyyy more matches than I won. It sucked because, well, I hate losing. After a while I thought that I should just give up tennis altogether and go back to playing golf.

Yep… I hate losing that much.

Thankfully, I came to my senses and didn’t do that. I realized that I was just playing to “get the ball back”, with no real skills or strategies. How could I possibly think I could win?! So, I signed up for a few private lessons at my club to see if that would make a difference – and boy, did it ever!

Twenty something years later, I’m a strong competitive player who’s on the court 4-5 times a week, which includes weekly private lessons or drills. Tennis has become a HUGE part of my life off the court as well, hence my blog :-) With decades of instruction and personal experience in my head, I have finally found an outlet where I can share it all with others who are like the old me, or who may be beginners, or who might have hit a plateau in their game.

So play, learn and improve… Just DON’T GIVE UP, no matter what it is… No one becomes the best of anything over night. Persevere and be patient, and great things will come of it!
