I Confess … I’m a Squeezer

By Yourfamilysurvivalcoach @shari_brewer

I’m confessing again this week and once more my thanks go to Kirsty at My Home Truths for the opportunity to link and also the motivation to fess up and come clean on a whole lot of stuff that sits festering.

Perfect segue ….. speaking of festering ….. today, I’m possibly going to repulse you, because I’m admitting here that I AM a squeezer. Indeed, I’ve always been a squeezer who just can not help having a squeeze. If there’s a zit, blackhead, blind pimple or ingrown hair to be found, me and my fingernails are onto it. Not picking mind you, I’m not a picker, I just fancy the occasional good squeeeeeeeeeze. Ahhhh, that’s better.

It’s gross stuff, isn’t it??! Oh, but please, I assure you that my hygiene standards are impeccable and that the pump action hand sanitizer and I are real tight, besties even! It’s just that I have almost uncontrollable urges to squeeze and squeeze and squeeze until I get that little bastard. Do you do it too, or do you have the willpower (of which I am jelly-jealous) to leave them all alone?

I confess … I’m a squeezer

You’d think by now, upon reaching the well-worn age of 44, I would understand that blind pimples earn their name through their capacity to remain discreet and barely noticeable? Ummm nope, of course not. If there’s a blind pimple lurking anywhere nearby, you can be sure that I will hunt it down, irritate the bejeezes out of it and consequently have a nice un-blind and very noticeable red splotch where it would have hidden itself ninja-style. Pathetic, but the satisfaction that comes from the hunt and then the squeeze is addictive. It’s even better than digging out a splinter and that IS saying something!

Now that the 2 boys of mine are of pimple growing age, I consider it only fair and reasonable to teach them the tricks of the trade. To date, I’m certainly proud of their zit hunting prowess and squeezing skills and I’ve even been willing to assist in the war against their hard to reach ingrown hairs and blackheads too. Chips off the old block they are, and I couldn’t be prouder!

However, if there’s anything to blow my own trumpet about, it’s the professionalism that I’ve shown over the years and the fact I have  NEVER, EVER asked to squeeze a pimple owned by one of the many adolescents I have worked with in that time. I started my career working with teens back in 1989 (yes, that’s right, last century) and in my working life I have seen many, many ready and ripe squeeze-worthy lumps  but, hand-on-my-heart, I can tell you I’ve not once even hinted at having a crack. Not once …. how good is that?!!

It’s alright though, don’t be sad, because there’s always the Pimple Popper app on the iPad to keep my squeezy fingers busy! It’s totally gross, but it does the job ;)

I confess … I’m a squeezer

So tell me, do you squeeze … or do you leave those poor, harmless little pimples alone??

Have a great Tuesday and if you’re a blogger, remember to link up with Jess at IBOT! It’s esstentially awesome and you can find it here -  Essentially Jess!
