One of my favorite lines that Zola Jesus ever wrote. It’s something that nearly everyone has struggled with at some point in their lives. This would definitely be an anthem for me, one of those songs that changes my mood because it helps me keep hope for a little longer.
I Can’t Stand was released in August of 2010 from her second full-length album, Stridulum II. It was previously released as an EP in the United Kingdom and did considerably well. It was also featured in a free download playlist from SPIN magazine.
I remember reading somewhere that Zola wrote the song for a friend, or maybe a few friends, that had trouble finding love. She didn’t want them to be sad because it also hurt her to see them that way. As a result, she created this song and hoped it would make them feel better.
