After weeks of rumors and leaked info, HTC has finally revealed the selfie-focused HTC Desire Eye, which features a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. Along with it, the company also launched the RE action camera that features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and can record 1080p videos.

The new HTC smartphone comes with some pretty neat specs – similar to those of the One M8, but with an improved camera and a slightly different design. The handset sports a 5.2” display and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and on the inside is a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable). Naturally, what sets is apart, like we’ve mentioned, is the 13-megapixel front-facing camera, with a f/2.2 aperture and a 2mm wide lens. The 13-megapixel rear camera comes with a better f/2.0 aperture and a 28mm wide lens.

To make sure that your phone is powered up properly, there’s a 2,400mAh battery underneath it all, and as for connectivity, you get Bluetooth 4.0, a 3.5mm audio jack, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, and microUSB 2.0. The phone runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat with HTC’s Sense 6 UI on top.

The Desire Eye will hit the stores in October, starting with the EMEA, Asia, and the US. The pricing details are yet to be announced.

HTC RE Camera

“RE is a small handheld camera that allows you to capture and fully experience every moment, through video and photography, without the hassle and awkwardness of grabbing your phone or camera and missing the moment because you were too busy capturing it.”

Aside from the 16-megapixel sensor, the camera also comes with a 146-degree wide-angle lens, and features an in-grip sensor which automatically turns the device when it’s in your hand. To capture images and make videos, you can use a dedicated shutter button – tap once to capture a photo, and hold the button to start recording a video.

The RE camera costs $199.99 and will come to the stores in November.
