How Video Boosts Real Estate SEO

Today’s real estate consumer is more visually oriented than ever before and expects to find quality video content when looking for a home online. This YouTube Generation of real estate buyers and sellers is forcing real estate agents to not only become web savvy but also understand the basics of search engine optimization (SEO) and incorporate video onto their marketing plans.

“If there is one thing I have consistently heard from agents over the last few years, it’s that they want to use video in their online marketing, but they don’t know how to get started,” wrote Kacie Ricker in an article for Inman News.

Although the concept of video marketing isn’t difficult to master, it can be daunting to get started — especially when deciding what kinds of videos to feature on your website. For example, which topics yield the greatest SEO for real estate professionals.

Ricker recommends you kick off your video SEO efforts with four types of videos:

Agent profile videos. How do you introduce yourself to potential clients? An agent profile video is a high-impact way to greet a wider audience yet retain that personal touch. “Be sure to keep it client-centric, focusing on what you will do better than the next agent,” she recommends.

Listing videos. With listing videos, help potential buyers imagine what it would be like to live there before they take a tour. This video can be as simple as a three-minute walk-through.

Community videos. Real estate is local, and people want to not only fall in love with a property but also a community! “These hyperlocal videos introduce buyers to prospective towns and neighborhoods and showcase you as the expert on the local market,” Ricker explains.

Client testimonial videos. The classic marketing technique of using case studies and testimonials goes digital. “Let your clients do your promoting for you! Consider filming testimonials at the happiest part of the transaction: the close of escrow signing,” she suggests.

After you’ve created these videos, make sure you gain the maximum SEO benefit from each by reaching out to that YouTube Generation. Read our how-to guide, “How YouTube Makes Video Content More Shareable,” and start counting those leads.
