How to watch US Netflix on UK Nexus Devices.
I'm a big fan of Netflix and I definitely get my £6 worth from it. I do find that the UK Netflix service is behind with it's releases compared to the US version. So with a bit of research I found the answer to having the best of both worlds. Its not a free solution but I find its worth the money.
- First thing first is to go over to here and sign up for the weeks free trial. This gives you the chance to make sure its for you or not. After the weeks up It's only a few £'s a month.
- The rest takes place on your phone/tablet. Follow these simple instructions to finish of the process. This works on Nexus4/Nexus7 and possibly many other android devices.
- 1. Press Settings
- WIFI (Click on word "WIFI", and not ON/OFF switch)
- Press and hold preffered wireless network until dialog pops up
- Select "Modify Network"
- Check "Show advanced options" checkbox at the bottom
- Switch "IP settings" to "static"
- Keep IP address, gateway and Network prefix length the same (should be set from standard DHCP
- Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields
- DNS 1. 208.122.23.22
- DNS 2. 208.122.23.23
- Press Save
- Restart your device and fire up the Netfix app and enjoy!
- To make make life easier to switch between US and UK I created two networks from my router and applied the DNS settings to it so I can just flick between the services.
