How to Remove Old Urine Stains

Urine Erase

Old urine stains are unsightly and can smell for years. If urine has ruined your old mattress, couch, or floor, your best option is to erase the stain with an enzyme-based cleaner. The enzymes actually attack and destroy the uric acid crystals which cause the smell and odor found in urine.

For tough, set-in stains, we recommend Urine-Erase. It’s powerful enough to get rid of stains as old as 30 years by turning the urine into an evaporable gas of water and oxygen. It also has a money back guarantee, so you are assured your money is well spent.

To remove the stain:

  1. Look at the size and depth of the stain. You need cleaning solution equal to the amount of urine that caused the stain. Keep in mind, the average adult bladder holds about 16 ounces. (Not using enough solution is the number one reason a stain is not lifted.)
  2. Let the enzyme treatment soak for at least 8 hours. For more difficult floor stains, cover the area with plastic wrap to let the product stay moist.
  3. After the enzyme application, use the liquid solution from the bottle to cover the area. Allow the surface to dry before walking, sitting, or sleeping on the surface.
  4. After the area has dried (you can open windows or use a fan to speed the process), vacuum the surface to pick up any remaining residue. If the stain still exists, you may not have used enough solution. Repeat the process, if necessary, to remove the remaining urine stain.

Don’t worry if the urine odor intensifies shortly after application – it means that the product is working and the urine is breaking down and rising to the surface. Hopefully, with these simple steps, you’ll be saying goodbye to those stubborn, smelly urine stains in no time!
