SEO Evolution

There was a time not so long ago that search engine optimisation was about who knew the most tips and techniques to get a site ranking highly. The industry has changed massively in recent years, with a much greater focus now on how a site can attract and engage with potential visitors when it comes to SEO results. Many people mistake brilliant content and crisp communications with the overuse of keywords . Keyword usage is just one part of the puzzle – even if your keyword usage sees you ranking highly, if the next button a browser clicks after following your link is “back” then it is a bit pointless, isn’t it?

Here’s how you can create and recognize high-quality SEO content.

Is it Original?

Where possible you always want to use original text, so if you can afford to do so, hire a copywriter that can come up with quirky, original writing on a regular basis. I’m not talking about your $1 to spin 500 words merchants either; proper writers who write proper content will make your site content great.

You can use existing content if you wish – generally most sites are happy for you to do so as long as you reference them and provide a link back to the site. But why would you want to be a cut and paste site? Why as a browser would I come to you if I can get the original work elsewhere?

Does it Send a Message?

Too often marketing content is presented in a “hey, look at how great I am” sort of way, which actually just makes me want to turn off. The more “salesy” content is the more search engines will ignore it, too, so be informative without being overly promotional.

Is it Relevant?

This the big one, and often what sees sites penalised for spamming. If your content is not relevant to anyone and is blatantly only there to pull in search results, you have a problem. You also need to consider relevance in terms of your audience and customers – if you are targeting young single parents then talking about romantic holidays for loved up couples won’t get you very far.

Would Someone Share It?

User generated content is now a major part of search success, which means that anytime someone likes, retweets, repins, favourites, +1’s your content, it is a tick in the box for your site as far as search engines are concerned.

Search Engine Optimisation is one of the most emerging industry sectors worldwide, and Bough SEO is at the cutting edge of this marketplace.
