La Bichette, a new hair and makeup studio right across the street from SMU, brings a country-French feel to Dallas. I had the pleasure to create a simple hair tutorial with the red-headed mother daughter duo behind La Bichette, Marsha and Tammy Coleman. A braided crown looks fancy, but I promise it’s a super easy updo that can be done in five minutes or less!
All photos by my sorority sister and fabulous photographer, Robbi Jo Robyn.
Ta-da! This is Tammy, the brilliant and beautiful hairstylist behind the final look. Tammy's favorite childhood memories are of watching her mom, Marsha, get ready. They would discuss school projects and life in general as Tammy intently watched her mom apply mascara and spritz glamorous perfume. When she grew up, Tammy dreamed of opening a hairstyling and makeup studio. Tammy and Marsha decided to turn her dream into a reality and La Bichette was born! Tammy is no longer the little girl playing dress up in her mom's bathroom, but La Bichette has given them the opportunity to live the same routine all over again.
Tammy and Marsha found inspiration for the store's name and theme during a trip to France. They admired how French women balance femininity and feminism, and they hoped La Bichette would embody that kind of woman.
In keeping with La Bichette's vintage French theme, services bear French names such as "Babette," "Violette," and "Nicolette." Wooden frame mirrors with encrusted diamonds and glam chandeliers with glass baubles give off a rustic glitzy vibe, which I translated into my outfit as well.
La Bichette is open seven days a week. Call 214.520.3500 to make an appointment for your next sorority formal, girls’ night out, or boulevard! Prices definitely cater to the SMU crowd with blowouts for $35 and makeup applications for $40 with some varying price points. Be sure to like La Bichette and Brooke du jour on Facebook, too!
Would y’all be interested in another hair tutorial? I would love to experiment with a hair bow!
My outfit: Pearl Collar Necklace (similar), J.Crew Keeper Chambray Shirt, J.Crew Skirt, Guess Cowboy Boots (similar), Ray-Ban Wayfarer, Michael Kors Watch, assorted Forever21 bracelets
