THE SHOWS Parks and Recreation
I know it's going to sound weird, but I was sort of hoping that Amy Poehler wouldn't do the pregnancy thing on Parks and Rec. It's not that I don't think she and Ben wouldn't make great parents because we know they will. I just wanted something less formulaic. The second Leslie threw up into the garbage can I knew she was pregnant. She didn't need to take the 99 cent pregnancy test. (99 cents???) I just didn't want her to be pregnant. To me, that's the end of the show. Shark jumped, over. I automatically fast forwarded through all the wacky pregnancy episodes ahead to the series finale where she and Ben leave Pawnee with baby Ronson Wyatt (named for Leslie's mentor and one of the best characters ever, Ron Swanson) and head for Washington D.C. where Leslie joins the ticket and runs as Joe Biden's V.P. I thought that Parks and Rec would be different, since it always has been, but the second that the stick turned blue or to a plus sign or whatever the 99 cent sticks symbol for baby is, I knew that season 7 would be Parks and Rec's last. Of course I could be wrong. I'm hoping I am and I'm hoping the shark heads back to the ocean and doesn't officially leave the water, but I just have a bad feeling that my beloved Parks & Rec as we once knew is no more.
Scandal
I need to meet Shonda Rhimes. How on earth does she and her writers come up with this stuff week after week. I keep thinking that there's no way they can blow our minds more than they did the week before and then BAM, we get an episode like last nights! HOLY CR*P! Okay where do we start? Soooooo…seriously, has anyone EVER had more F'ed up parents than Olivia Pope? Mom's a crazy terrorist who has no problem killing anyone she loves including the supposed love of her life and the father of her only child. (2 separate guys btw) Dad is also a trained killer and a trainer of killers, who killed the love of his ex-wife's life in his daughters place of business. Luckily no new biz came in while he was bleeding out on her floor. With parents like this it's a wonder that Olivia became anything other than a heroine addict. If we're speaking about parents, what about Fitz's Dad who raped his son's wife and knocked her up! Well, if we're going there, Fitz and Mellie aren't the greatest in the parent department either. Sure they're the prez and the first lady, but unlike the Obama's, they never see their kids, their both having affairs, and they both seem to have issues with alcohol. The only good thing that came out of Mellie's drunken stupor last night was the final release of the secret she's been carrying around all these years about Fitz's Dad. I gotta admit though, I was hoping we'd get to see the results of Little Jerry's DNA test. Weren't you? Sure I'm glad that Sally Langston didn't get what she wanted, but I wanted to know for sure if Fitz was Little Jerry's half brother or his Dad. The Huck/Quinn sex scene in the garage was crazy, but you know we wanted it as badly as they did. I wonder if one of the secrets that the Command guys know is how Olivia gets all those pictures of clients in question so fast and how they all stick to the window without tape. With everything that goes on in this show every week, I'm still obsessed with the picture wall. I'm devastated that next week is the season finale of this show. No matter how cute Kerry Washington's kid is, I will always resent him/her for screwing me out of a full season of Scandal. 10 Points for this weeks song!
Reign
Reign is really good. It's really juicy. Other than Kenna and the King nobody on the show is super hot. Mary's pretty and both Sebastian and Francis are fine but not over the top hot which means that it's all about the story and I'm not kidding, the story is crazy good. It's amazing how much crazy sh*t can go on all in one castle all in one day. As I've mentioned before, secrets are never really kept, but when ARE secrets kept in any show? The secrets on this show tend to be revealed pretty fast though. In this episode Mary found out there was a secret clause in her marriage contract that totally screwed her and her country over big time. Within the remaining 40 minutes of the show, she had the fake contract stolen, got some of her countrymen on board with a plan to screw over her Mom and France and get the contract broken. Her men were killed by her husbands Mom (the queen) then she threatened the queen with a back-up plan and finally got and burned the contract. Roll credits. Considering there were no computers, cell phones, copy machines or technology of any kind, it's pretty amazing what can be accomplished in a castle back in the 1500's. In between all her coniving, the Queen of France got a little action herself. Good for her, I think she needed it. Sebastian and Kenna were figuring out how to be married. I'm betting they fall in love before the end of the season. Lola got engaged, told her guy about the baby and the guy who fell for her in less than a full episode, didn't even care and still wanted to marry her. Like I said a lot goes on in this castle in a day. It's a good show, you should watch it if you aren't already.
Parenthood
Being there was a thread that was not only woven throughout this episode of Parenthood, but I guess it's sort of present throughout all of them. Joel was there for Crosby to help with his floor and Hank was there for Max, Amber and Sarah which is so hard for him and yet it seemed to come easy. Julia was there for her brother and sister-in-law to help make there dream of their own school happen. Gwen, Kristina's chemo buddy was there for her even in death. Now the school will be there for her and Gwen's spirit can live on through all the kids she's helping. Maybe Bob Little will come through and be there for them all too. Of course Adam was there for his wife as he always is, and Sarah was there for Amber and Drew. Finally, I think Natalie might just be there for Drew too. Tears as always, it just wouldn't be Parenthood without them. One very special episode left for the season. NBC owes us an answer on this one, hope they are there for all of us.
THE OTHER STUFF
-I know you guys know about Stephen Colbert taking over for Letterman already. That's the bummer about publishing this thing so early. I thought about breaking in to your day with a "Late Breaking News" report to let you know and decided against it. From here on in if something like that happens, check the Facebook page or the Twitter feed, I'll start posting stuff there so that you know that I'm on my game. Trust me…I'm ON my game. Colbert's ending his show on Comedy Central, but I'm betting they find someone for his timeslot at some point. I bet John Oliver's kicking himself right now. As far as how I feel about the choice. I guess, I'm fine with it. Another white guy at 11:30pm. I would have liked to see CBS take a risk and do something different but I think Colbert will be fine. I just would have liked to see things shaken up a bit. Did they have to rush to make a decision? I would have done guest hosting like Kelly did when Regis left. Just sayin.

Friday's Trivia Question: I hope you guys get this one, it's sort of tricky. Felicity and Jason Street. What's the connection? (Clue: It's in the names not the shows)
