How Deep Is Your Love by Bee Gees.News just broke that Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees passed away today. We’ve had so many deaths in the music industry this year and it’s been a tough one. There is a certain peace we can find though, Robin is no longer in pain. He had battled cancer for quite sometime and now he can fly free and see his brother, Maurice, in heaven. Today’s entry is in memory of him and a tribute to the Bee Gees.

How Deep Is Your Love was released in September of 1977 for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. It went to #1 on Billboard’ Hot 100 and also topped the charts in the UK, Spain, Italy, and Ireland. It kept the top-10 spot on the US chart for 17 weeks.

The single earned them a Grammy award in February of 1978 and was also nominated for “Best Original Song” at the Golden Globes.

In December of 2011, a British television special voted the song as “the nation’s favorite Bee Gees song” by its channel viewers. Rolling Stone magazine ranked the track #366 in a lost of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Above is a performance from 2001 with all three of the Gibb brothers. To the right, where it all began…

Rest in Peace, Robin.
