How Can Someone Barely Old Enough to Be a Customer Know Customer Service?

By Waiterstoday @Waiters_Today

Why does it seem that every hostess is a robot programmed to only say, "Hi, how are you this evening?" and "Right this way, please"? How is it a good idea to put a girl barely out of a training bra in a position to give someone the bad news of a seating time that's 45 minutes past their reservation? Hostesses are the superfluous baggage of the restaurant industry. Most of the time it takes them 6 weeks to learn table numbers, and they think they are working so hard when they have to wipe down the menus or dust the podium.

They really think their good looks are a valuable attribute. When they come in to apply for the job, they only bring their beautiful selves, and a little politeness. The only thing they need, to know they can do that job, is their mirror. It wouldn't be so bad if they realized that they are nothing but eye-candy, and they kept their mouths shut. However, most of them, despite their low iq's, figure out that they have a little power, and when they do, you better not do anything that offends them, or breaks their girlie code, or you'll be waiting on blue hairs every night.

That's about all a hostess can offer to any restaurant besides T&A. Scorned-woman-fueled child games. Is there another way to get the vibrating, flashing, 'your table is ready,' pager thing, without dealing with an airhead with a tramp stamp?
