When I was pregnant, I switched to all eco-friendly cleaners in the house because I didn’t want to expose my daughter to toxic chemicals, especially since my thyroid antibodies were poisoning her enough.  Holy toledo were they twice as expensive! Since I hate spending money on non-fun items, ESPECIALLY cleaning supplies, I hit up Pinterest to see what blog geniuses out there had come up with a solution.  Lo & behold, not only could I make eco-friendly cleaners at home, but they would be DIRT CHEAP to make. SOLD!

After my daughter was born, I felt comfortable enough experimenting with homemade concoctions.  This glass cleaner is the BEST one I have tried so I wanted to pass it along.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup filtered, VERY HOT water
  • 1/2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/8 cup rubbing alcohol {at least 70% isopropyl} *I use 91%*
  • 1/8 cup white vinegar

You will also need a brand new spray bottle of choice & a funnel.

I used my trusty label maker to label. You ALWAYS want to make sure you label your homemade cleaners.  I named it Windex just in case my husband decided to use it.

Directions

  1. Boil water & let it cool slightly.
  2. Add the cornstarch to spray bottle & then add hot water. *Shake vigorously to dissolve.*
  3. Add the rubbing alcohol & vinegar, shake well again.
  4. Clean your dirty glass & admire the shine! :)

*You will need to shake the bottle well before each use, because the cornstarch will settle at the bottom & can clog the nozzle.*

I also highly recommend using coffee filters to wipe the cleaner off of the mirrors. Not only will it save you a ton of money on paper towels, your mirrors will be lint & streak free. :)

I made sure my bathroom mirrors were extra coated with toothpaste, hairspray, water spots & makeup splatter just for you guys. ;)

Gross right?

TADA!!

Look at that shine! I use this on my mirrored bedroom & living room furniture as well. I have yet to meet a booger, slobber, sticky goo, crayon mess, juice spill or random {wtf is this?!} mess that it wouldn’t take off either. Best part? My little helper is perfectly safe helping me clean with it. :)
