Home cures for that stubborn dandruff

How many times have we felt like hiding ourselves in embarrassment when someone pointed out dandruff falling on our shoulders? Not only does it fall all over our clothes, but they also cause acne.

In most cases, people turn to store bought, commercial treatments, such as shampoos laden with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. These products tend to provide relief only for a day or two and then we find ourselves back to square one.

To enjoy dandruff free hair using natural ingredients, we also have to adopt certain changes to our lifestyle and diet. For example, you will have to cut out on your junk food habits, avoid fizzy drinks totally and drink lots of water. Most people tend to shampoo and brush their hair in the wrong manner. All these issues, though they sound trivial are the main causes of dandruff.

Try out some of these home remedies and kiss that dandruff bye-bye.

  • Hot Oil Massages – Hot oil massages with any herbal oil or olive oil are the most effective treatment when it comes to getting rid of dandruff.
  • Egg therapy – As gross as it may sound, eggs are the age old solution for dandruff. Whip together 2 eggs with few teaspoons of water and apply on the scalp for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off.

Applying this stinky solution to our head is worth every bit, as not only does it rid out hair of the dandruff, but it also makes it soft and shiny.

  • Yogurt and lemon – Massage your scalp with a mixture of yogurt and lemon juice before a shower.
  • Fenugreek Paste – Soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Make into a paste and massage gently onto the scalp. Wash off with lukewarm water.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar – Combine equal quantities of water and apple cider vinegar and soak for half an hour. Rinse as usual.
  • Aloe Vera – Apply Aloe Vera gel on the scalp and wash off after 15-20 minutes.
  • Green Gram and Chickpea Flour – Make a paste of both the flours and apply as a pack.
  • Neem Leaves – Make a paste of neem leaves and water and apply to the scalp as a hair pack.
  • Baking Soda – Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a cup of water and apply on the scalp for 10 minutes. Rinse.
  • Henna – Mix together henna, an egg and black tea. Apply on the scalp for 3-4 hours and wash off with shampoo.

Don’t forget to thoroughly wash your hair after these hair treatments, as most natural cures leave behind a strong smell.

Good luck in fighting that dandruff.
