Hey guys!
I haven’t done a review in a really long time, so I thought I would share with you guys my thoughts and first impressions on the limited edition holiday palette: Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette by Kat Von D (KVD).
So if you are a regular subscriber to my blog, you’d know that I love love LOVE KVD’s products, especially eye and lip makeup products. They are simply fantastic. So naturally, I had to get the limited edition holiday palette for myself! Unfortunately, I did not end up keeping this palette…
Price
- $71 CAD for 0.96 oz.
Packaging
- Looks like an old record, which gives it a very vintage vibe!
- The size of the palette is huge (~ 8” x 8”) – it’s about twice the size of the Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette
- The palette is inside a colourful cardboard sleeve that has a beautiful art on the cover and gives off a shine and the back of the sleeve shows the different colours found on the palette along with the names of the colours
Pamphlet
- Like KVD’s other palettes, this palette also has a pamphlet included inside
- It has 3 different looks that includes details on how to recreate it using the colours in the palette – perfect for those new to makeup/beginner level users
- The back the pamphlet is basically the same the back of the sleeve in which the palette is stored in, but has more information regarding the ingredients
Palette
- There are a total of 24 eyeshadows in the palette (7 neutral shades on the centre, 17 colourful, rainbow shades surrounding the neutrals)
- The shades are pigmented
- A few fall offs when applying it on the eyelids
- The makeup is vegan and cruelty free
- There are a mixture of shimmer/satin and matte colours, except one of them, Echo, which has glitter flecks
- The shades are easy to blend
- A few matte colours are chalky
- You can create endless looks with the colours

Cons About The Palette
- You can’t take it with you easily when traveling
- Most colours have a lot of pigment, however, I found that two of the shades, Misfit and Vinyl, were the least pigmented shades
- Love the concept of the slide out, but I dislike the fact that sometimes, I accidentally get my finger on the product when taking out. So you have to be really careful!
- When tapping your makeup brush, it’s really easy to get a lot of product on the brush, so a gentle tap is recommended when picking up products. This doesn’t affect me too much, but it does affect others.
- The circular arrangement of the colours seemed to be a waste of packaging/space…
Overall….
The palette was a better improvement compared to the first Mi Vida Loca Palette, but for me, it did not live up to its hype. Yes, the shades are pigmented but the quality does not compare to the Monarch, Chrysalis, Innerstellar, or Shade and Light Eye Contour Palettes, which were better in terms of quality. The cardboard pullout sleeve is a great concept, I know she was trying to make it like an old record, but it did not work for me. I accidentally keep getting my fingers on the product when trying to pull it out and I do not think the cardboard sleeve is super sturdy. I feel like I might accidentally hold it the wrong way, and the palette might fall out. Also, a bit of pressure added on top of the cardboard sleeve could potentially damage the shadows. Overall, the palette does not live up to its hype or is worth the price… Unfortunately, I will be returning the product.
Should you buy it?!
If you do not have any colourful shades in your eyeshadow collection and want to buy it at a bargain value, then yes, you can definitely go buy it. It basically has all the colourful shades you need to create versatile looks! Huge plus! However, if you already have the colourful shades in your collection, then I wouldn’t buy it. I think in terms of colourful shades, you are better off getting KVD’s other palettes I had mentioned above or the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows (expensive, but worth the price). Although, the shadows are not matte, they are a better quality compared to Mi Vida Loca Remix, blends easily and is a lot more pigmented.
Hope this review helped you out in making a decision!
