This is the time when you can get away with luxe fabrics like silk, sequins, velvet and satin to name a few. It could either be the cold weather or just the festive vibe in the air, that I personally get lured to sequin. There is this inherent excitement that I get every time I come across anything sequence-y. Be it a dress, a skirt, or even shoes, come November-December I get all jittery every time I spot sequin. While sequin might be eye-appealing, it is not the most wearable option. Unless you are the adventurous kinds who doesn't mind looking like a disco-ball during the day, you don't want to attract those undesirable public glares. A little sequin is still acceptable, but this year I am more into velvet.

Velvet is luxurious yet affordable, feminine and sexy. I am having a major moment with velvet and I have already stocked up a few pieces like this, this and this. Velvet is so wearable, for instance the dress I am wearing is subtle, uber-feminine, comes in a few other colors and is under $150 HERE. I can wear it now and in holidays and beyond. I would totally wear this as pictured with the blue jacket and beret for a daytime office holiday party and with a sequin jacket or a fur wrap, some pearl jewelry and a statement clutch for a night get together. This dress could be the "IT" dress that goes from desk to dinner in a flash.
How would you wear it???
