In a world filled with tablets and back-lights there is little need to hide under the covers with a torch and read a book. But somehow, book reading is extra fun when you are supposed to be asleep!
Hide & Eek!, by Rebecca Sutherland, brings in a surprisingly simple way that joy back again. Images are hidden during the day and they will only appear under a flashlight in the dark. Exciting and scary images are revealing by the dancing lights. Elephants, lions and wild monsters!
Ink is sandwiched between two sheets of paper. The tricky part was not to make the images appear under the light the problem was to make them disappear during the day. But this problem was solved by searching for the right paper and tonal range of the illustrations.
