Her Honesty is Something Else

Reading a new book ... I caved and read a bit of the back but it just had quotes of people talking about how great the book is so I still know nothing. As you can tell, I'm reading The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton. I haven't gotten very far but I really like the story so far. Wharton had a great sense of humor and it shows through her writing.
When I'm reading the story, I can imagine everything play out like a movie ... almost like the Sense and Sensibility movie with Kate Winslet. It makes it more enjoyable to read.
Although I've read just about 20 pages and Lily, the main character, is wining my heart. She has such a spunky attitude. She's so open, brave, and honest about her feelings at times, so much so it's admirable. I like how she told Mr. Selden about the type of relationship she wanted with him straight away, while asserting her boundaries.
It made me think that doing something like that is so vulnerable and as such so surprising because he could have easily rejected her. Obviously if you want a relationship with someone in any form, you should let them know instead of waiting for things to happen to you because you might miss a great opportunity to build something great. But it can be so nerve racking to make the first move. On a side note, it makes me think that guys undergo so much anxiety to meet a girl.
Basically I was reminded of that simple lesson just from reading 20 pages, so I'm very excited about reading the rest of the book.

I'll post more about my thoughts as I read further. For now I want to know if you've read the book before and what you think of it. If not, read with me my friend, it will be fun. Don't be stingy with your thoughts.
