Kick up your next batch of healthy roasted sweet potato fries with this sweet and spicy honey sriracha dipping sauce.
It's 5 Ingredient Friday and I've been contemplating (drooling is probably a better word) over ways I could kick up a recipe for healthy sweet potato fries for awhile now. I'm a baked fries fanatic since my Weight Watchers days when the only plate of fries I would touch were these garlicky fries I ate at least once a week.
These days when I'm making a plate fries, I like to switch things up and use sweet potatoes or yams instead of russet potatoes. It's not that I think sweet potatoes are any healthier than russets (you can check out this nutrition profile on Precise Nutrition for my reasoning), I simply prefer the taste.
Often I'll slice my potatoes into coins instead of wedges and use my Silpat to bake them on. I think the coins tend to brown better and the Silpat is completely nonstick so I can use less olive oil when I'm roasting.
In my fry fanatic world, a plate of healthy roasted sweet potato fries must include a dipping sauce, so I took out my blender, a container of low-fat cottage cheese (love the protein boost!), a jar of honey, and a bottle of sriracha. After a quick whirl my sweet and spicy sauce was ready for the bowl and some fry dipping.
While using fun plates probably has nothing to do with healthy roasted sweet potato fries, I have to tell you how much I love this plate! I found it at a second-hand store and couldn't resist grabbing it for myself. It definitely makes fry eating a pleasurable experience.
Shake It Up!Swap the sweet potatoes for your favorite potatoes, and use non-fat Greek yogurt in place of cottage cheese. Enjoy!
