Health Tourism Will Be Promoted in Vizag: N Chandrababu Naidu

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took part in a string of programmes in his six and a half hours visit to the city, on Saturday. Naidu arrived here at 3.30 pm and inaugurated the CCTV camera project, Pandurangapuram Park, Apollo Hospitals, Bay Park hotel and a solar power project. He was also present at the Water-Pragathi seminar.
Apollo Hospitals
Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Apollo Hospitals at the Health City here. The Apollo group established a 250-bed hospital at a cost of Rs 150 crore. On the occasion, Naidu said that the government had decided to develop Visakhapatnam as a destination of health tourism. Once the International Airport is completed at Bhogapuram, a large number of patients would also come to Visakhapatnam for surgeries.
The government had given permission to set up 28 corporate hospitals and till now 15 were started. If the other hospitals were not completed, their ceded lands would be taken back and allotted to other hospitals, he warned.
Founder Chairman of Apollo Groups Pratap C Reddy said that many people had been suffering from heart, liver, kidney and brain related problems and with an aim to provide advanced medical aid to those patients at a cheaper cost, the Apollo group established the hospitals across the country. As the Apollo Hospitals is rendering quality medical services at a cheaper cost, many patients across the globe are coming to India for surgeries, he added.
Neeru-Pragathi Semnar
Speaking at a seminar on Neeru-Pragathi (water and progress), Chandrababu Naidu exhorted the people to involve themselves in the mission to make the state drought-free. He said that the government had fixed a target to construct 8.75 lakh farm ponds this year. On the availability of funds to the mission, Naidu said that under the NREGS, the farm pond works would be taken up. He also said that after the rivers Godavari and Krishna were interlinked, the government was now planning to interlink the rivers Nagavali and Vamsadhara in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. According to the agreements, the state has to get 800 TMC water from the river Krishna, however this year only 80 TMC water was received. After the bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh was the last to utilise the Krishna waters. However, he promised the people that his government would take up the issue with the Centre for the just share of waters.
Pandurangapuram Park
The Chief Minister opened the Pandurangapuram Park, developed by VUDA and the Pandurangapuram Residents Welfare Association on participatory basis, with an expenditure of Rs 97.45 lakh. The park named after NTR has been developed with many attractions useful to all age groups. The Chief Minister complimented the colony residents for developing the park as a model one. He said the NTR Park would stand as an inspiration not only to the city, but also to the state in promoting the participatory concept for development. Going around the park after unveiling the plaque, the CM was impressed with amenities developed in the park. While interacting with the Residents Welfare Association members, he assured support from government side for participatory development activities.
Bay Park Hotel
CM inaugurated Bay Park Hotel which was established at a cost of Rs 150 crore on the Vizag-Bheemili beach road near Yendada. The hotel was constructed under public and private partnership.
