The air traffic control firm NATS has been awarded a prestigious gold award for health and safety for the second year running, which a testament to the company’s commitment to health and safety training.
NATS received the award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at its annual Occupational Health and Safety Awards, which was held in Birmingham recently. The gold award aims to recognize and honor businesses which reach a standard of excellence in health and safety, with entrants being judged on everything from health and safety management systems and leaderships to accident records and workforce involvement,
Receiving the award in Birmingham on behalf of NATS was the company’s Training and Simulation Director Garry Jackson. After the prize-giving, NATS’ Safety, Fire and Environment Manager Colin Mooney said:
“We are confident in how well we manage health and safety throughout NATS and this award demonstrates the effectiveness of what we do.
“Our incident rate is very low, especially when considering the high-risk nature of some of the jobs that our staff are involved in, including working on active airfields or repairing mountain-top radar stations.”
